Small, Local, and Family-Owned
The Shoemakers and JP Patios
Beginning as a second job in the summer of 2001, former Wissahickon history teacher, Jim Shoemaker, combined his love for working outside and historical forms of construction into a full-time career of landscape architecture. Jim established JP Patios in 2008 with his brother, Pete Shoemaker, and has since designed and hand-built hundreds of hardscapes; including patios, walkways, steps, fireplaces, natural-stone walls, and much more. JP Patios now consists of Jim and his two sons, Jim Jr and Colin, and operates out of Limerick, PA, serving Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia metro area.

Family Operated Equals Quality
While other landscaping and hardscaping companies are becoming increasingly corporate, we at JP Patios chose to operate as a small, family-owned business to maintain total oversight of quality control. This means your experience with JP Patios will be both personal and professional, as you know exactly who is installing your future outdoor living space. Our tight control over all operations means that you will not have to deal with communication errors between management and subcontractors, and we will always be available during installation to answer questions and make design changes.
The JP Patios' Way
As a small, family-owned business, everything is done by hand, by us. From sketched designs and 3D mock-ups, to sawcut curves of the patio, to repairs on our machines and printing our company uniforms, we take great pride in our work. This pride means that we treat your house and project like we would our own, and at JP Patios we go above and beyond other hardscaping companies to ensure customer satisfaction. While other companies simply complete the project and leave, we treat your home with much more care by re-grading the project site, seeding any dirt patches, pressure washing dust from your house and driveway, and ensuring that your project is draining water properly.
