Here at JP Patios we encourage creativity, not only in the ways we design our projects, but in the vision that our customers have for their future outdoor spaces. By providing clients with samples of materials, hardscaping catalogues, photos of similar past work, and 3D walk-throughs, we help customers envision beautiful outdoor spaces for their budget. While we specialize in hardscape and landscape architecture like patios, walkways, walls, and mulch beds, we will do our best to see your vision to fruition, whatever it may be. Below is a list of common services we preform, but it is not exclusive, so please reach out with any questions regarding your specific outdoor needs and unique ideas.
Patios
An outdoor living and entertainment space custom designed for your home and needs. Either attached or detached from the house, made with your choice of pavers and/or natural stone. Can be multi-leveled and incorporated with walkways, retaining and sitting walls, columns, steps, low-voltage lighting, edge stone, fire places, and river rock or mulch.
Walkways
Custom stone walking-path that is equally functional and beautiful for your home. Can be incorporated into patios, decks, retaining walls, steps, driveways, or porches. Your choice of pavers and/or natural stone. The inside and outside edges of the walkway can be accented with edge stone, path lighting, river rock, boulders, mulch, and plants.
Steps, entrances, and landings
Rundown, unwelcoming, and uneven entrances detract from curb-appeal and are often unsafe for children and visitors. The right number and style of steps completely transforms the front or back of your home. Low-voltage ledge lights are highly recommended to make your entrance safe, and home beautiful at night. Can be constructed with pavers and/or natural stone, and can be incorporated into retaining walls, porches/patios, walkways, or edge stone.
Concrete and Natural Stone Walls
Being formally trained in dry-stack walling, both Jim Sr and Jr specialize in historically-accurate forms of natural-stone walling that requires no mortar or glues. Any landscaping company can stack rocks, but JP Patios can construct lasting walls that effortlessly drain water and gradually shift along with the changing grade, while using traditional walling techniques dating back to colonial times. Walls can either retain soil, or be double sided to act as a fence, and we highly recommend this period-correct form of walling for homes 100 years and older. If you want a more uniformed look and affordable price, your preferred style of concrete pavers are also a great option for beautiful walls, columns, and sitting areas.
Fireplaces and Fire Pits
Fire-features instantly enhance your backyard with nighttime entertainment, heating, and lighting. Fire pits can be constructed with your choice of colored concrete pavers, stone ledges, and/or a copper bowl, and can stand alone or be built into a patio. Any style of pit can burn wood logs, but copper bowls also allow for adjustable propane or natural gas fires within faux logs, lava rocks, and/or glass beads. Larger fireplaces with a ledge, chimney, veneer stone, and brick can also be incorporated into patios and walls for an outdoor living-room feel. Low-voltage lighting is highly recommended alongside any fire-features for added nighttime visibility. Specialty features such as grills or wood-burning ovens are also possible.
Repairs, Re-lays, and Pressure Washing
Damaged or heaved hardscaping is both an eye-sore and tripping hazard, but can be quickly and affordably refreshed without needing new construction. We can re-lay the existing brick to maintain the original style, or replace certain elements with a new style of block, all while improving the build-quality for maximum lifespan. Repairs and re-lays are typically done when pavers or steps heave up or sink down, either because of tree roots, erosion, improper construction, or general wear over time. Repairs are often needed on the edges of hardscaping without concrete siding, and we highly recommend repairs if you believe your hardscapes were not built by professionals. We also offer pressure washing to completely return any hardscaping, concrete, or outdoor surfaces to their clean, original look.
Low-Voltage Lighting
The warm and welcoming glow of low-voltage lighting is one of the best ways to simultaneously increase the beauty and functionality of your outdoor living-spaces. Ledge lights hidden under steps, retaining walls, and sitting walls allow for you to use your patio at night, and can provide both a visual aid for parking cars and entering the home, while also preventing tripping. Path lights alongside a walkway make your house inviting and walkable at night, and ornate lamp lights on columns add a grandiose style to your outdoor living-space. Directional spot lights can also be placed to highlight your home and landscaping.
Mulch, River Rock, and Ground Coverage
If you want outdoor entertainment space without the commitment of a patio, river rock provides a beautiful and cost effective alternative. We have done backyard fire pit and picnic areas, gardens with bushes and boulders, access pathways, and many more forms of ground coverage. We also offer mulching, edge stone, boulders, and some planting depending on your taste. Ask about low-voltage lighting, outdoor speakers, gates, natural-stone pathways, and/or water features if you want specific upgrades.
